Domaine Châteaumar, Rosé, Côte de Rhône, France
Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre. Beautiful ‘petal-of-rose’ colour.On the nose, dominating notes of fresh red fruit (strawberries, raspberries) and marsh-mallow. On the palate, nervy, very expressive. Seared Tuna, Ratatouille, Grilled Shrimp.

Bonterra, Chardonnay, Mendocino, California
An initial impression of rich, buttery cream quickly turns to aromas of honey and lightly toasted almonds, followed by tropical aromas of pineapple, citrusy lemon and crème brulee. Crab stuffed sole, Chinese deep fried Red Snapper.

Pacific Rim, Chenin Blanc, Columbia, Washington
Vividly bright with flavors of pear, quince and grapefruit essence with an eruption of floral aromas. An inspired complement to shellfish, grilled fish, soft cheeses and Middle Eastern food.

Kaiken, Reserva Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina
It’s youth can be appreciated in its vivid purplish red color. Fresh fruit aromas evoke strawberries and cherries nicely supplemented by spicy and floral notes. In the palate, this wines reveals an extraordinary freshness and soft tannins. BBQ Baby Back Ribs, Charcuterie, Turkish Lamb Kebab.

Kenwood, Pinot Noir, Sonoma, California
Fruit aromas of blackcurrant and raspberry join with fragrant notes of nutmeg, thyme and lavender; big and luscious mouthfeel with rich tannins lead to a lasting finish. Pork Roast, Asian Chicken, Wild Salmon

Four Vines, “Sophisticate”, Zinfandel, Sonoma, California
Combined with 10% Petite Sirah, impresses in grip and softness, offering big, rich waves of raspberry, cinnamon and allspice, before unveiling a leathery finish. Tomato-based dishes like Lasagna, Spaghetti Bolognese, Brisket, or Italian Sausage.

Biodynamic

Tokaji is a region in Hungary known for its sweet wines made primarily from the Furmint grape. Dry Tokaji is a new thing, first introduced to the world in the year 2000, and has since become somewhat of a small sensation. We’ve been curious about it, so Dale’s been bugging our reps to bring us a dry Tokaji, and here it is! Wow, what a strange and delightful wine, you certainly taste the similarity to a sweet Tokaji, but dry, of course, with a crisp acidity. It has a sherry-like quality which makes it especially appealing as an apertif.
This would be great with indian food! How about grilled pineapple and steak kabobs, yum. Grilled mango… Tacos Al Pastor…
From the producer:
“Almost 90% Furmint complemented by Hárslevelu and cultivated through biodynamic viniculture. Rich aromas of acacia, pink grapefruit, and honey. The abundant acidity of the Furmint never tips the balance of the wine. Slightly smoky finish, likely thanks to the wood and the Hárslevelu, a variety often characterized by smoky impressions.”

This is a Dale favorite, and I love it too, (apparently many wine writers also love it) from the Languedoc region of France.
I’ve copied and pasted a bunch of great info below, so I’ll get right to the food pairings!
Great with cheese, Caramelized root veggies, almost any sort of game, Wild Boar, Elk, back to the chees, how about a fancy mac and cheese with a little prosciutto and sliced tomato thrown in? Mushrooms and spinach…

91 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate:
“A terrific value, the 2014 Languedoc Cuvee Prestige checks in as a blend of 55% Grenache and 45% Syrah that’s brought up all in tank. It has tons of Mediterranean character in its sweet dark fruits, lavender, damp earth and peppery herb-laced bouquet. This gives way to a full-bodied, sexy, layered 2014 that has plenty of fruit, fine tannin and a hedonistic style that’s just hard to resist. It’s another outstanding vintage for this cuvee that’s well worth a multi-bottle purchase. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years.”

“One only needs to glance briefly through the notes of Jancis Robinson,
Robert Parker, Andrew Jefford and David Schildknecht (among many
others) to discover their love affair with the Languedoc. And by that, we
mean head-over-heels, butterflies-in-the-stomach kind of love. We have had
affection for the region since the humble beginnings of European Cellars
when our motto was “unknown…and unsold” – an affection that remains
as exciting to us today as it did 25 years ago.
Château Puech-Haut has been on the critic’s radar for some time – which
makes sense since the property has employed Michel Rolland, Claude Gros
and now Philippe Cambie as consulting enologist. Visionary owner Gérard
Bru spares no expense in his quest for excellence. Located quite close to Pic
Saint-Loup, in Saint-Drézéry, Puech-Haut is near the far western border of
the Rhône valley and benefits from both its proximity to the Mediterranean
and the rugged, mountainous interior of France. There are slightly over 50
hectares planted with Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, Carignan,
Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Carignan Blanc.
The wines from Puech-Haut are rich and lush but also show the earthy and
mineral character of the rocky clay-limestone soils of the region.
Owner Gerard Bru, consultant Philippe Cambie and Eric Solomon have
collaborated on the Prestige Rouge since the 2009 vintage capitalizing
on the amazing limestone-rich terroir of Saint-Drézèry in the eastern
Languedoc. Combining 65-80 year old Grenache with 45 year old Syrah
then fermented and aged concrete, they have crafted a dense and powerful
wine capturing the warm climate of the Mediterranean with all its floral
aromatics of, dark fruit, spice, cracked pepper and garrigue.”

“Let’s just get right to the point, Chateau Puech Haut is one of the greatest and most talked about estates in Southern France at the moment. Jeb Dunnuck of The Wine Advocate has this to say about this over-achieving producer: “Easily one of the top estates in the Languedoc (if not southern France), Chateau Puech Haut lies just outside the village of Saint-Drezery and is owned and run by Gerard Bru, with consulting help from Philippe Cambie. They produce a number of cuvees, with their entry level efforts representing superb values, and their top cuvees being able to stand toe to toe with the greatest wines in the world.”

“In 2000, Gerard Bru checked out. He sold his business and moved back to Saint-Drézéry, a small village 15 km northeast of Montpellier. He grew up here, spending much of his time hunting and working with his grandfather in the local vineyards. Despite his knowledge of the land, he faced an uphill battle because there wasn’t a single vine on the property until he planted one, convinced that the terroir, covered in olive trees and wild herbs, would be conducive to spectacular wines.”
