Michel Lynch Sauvignon Blanc 2016 Bordeaux, France:
Brilliant pale colour with silver glints, nose that is bursting with notes of tropical fruits, pineapple, and hints of coconut. The palate is generous and lively, revealing aromas of acacia and white peach. The finish, persistent, displays lovely aromatic complexity, a touch of minerality and a crisp freshness.
blue crab cakes, grilled cod fish and potatoes with rosemary and olive oil

Huguet Can Feixes Blanc Seleccio 2016 Penedes, Spain:
Macabeo, Chardonnay, and a touch of Malvasia de Sitges. Parellada at its best, from high-altitude, gravelly mountain soils: intense lemon-oil aroma with firm acid structure enhanced by the rare, glyceric Malvasía. Stony and aromatic, reminiscent of France’s Chablis or Rheingau. Apple, melon and apricot aromas, Flavors of melon, lime and wet stones reflect gravelly soils, and it’s steady on a long finish.
Seafood Paella, Shrimp and Spicy Sausage Salad

Banyan Gewürztraminer 2016 Arroyo Seco, Monterey, California:
Refreshing and bright with floral aromatics. This off dry Gewürztraminer is grown at Mission Ranch and Ventana Vineyards in the Arroyo Seco AVA of Monterey. Typical for that area, wind, fog, and cool temperatures predominate year round. The vineyard is carefully farmed to assure the specific ripeness, a balance of sugar and acidity, that we are looking for. A long growing season and temperatures that rarely rise above 80°F create an ideal spot for such an intensely aromatic wine.
Pad Thai, Green Curry Chicken

Franklin Tate Estates Wines Shiraz 2015 Margaret River, Australia:
Deep ruby red with a purple hue. A rich and spicy nose with dense dark cherry, blueberry and mixed red berry fruits. These are complimented by notes of Belgian waffle, milk chocolate and vanilla aged in American oak. This is a highly expressive wine with great fruit concentration driven by mixed berries and dark, juicy cherry fruit. The tannin structure is chewy, and the oak has provided a sweet, chocolatey flavour along with hints of hazelnuts and toast. White pepper lingers on the finish.
Grilled beef served rare with a green pepper sauce.

Domaine Les Pins Les Rochettes Red 2015 Bourgueil, Loire, France:
Cabernet Franc 100% Domaine les Pins has been a family-owned estate for 5 generations. They are independent winegrowers who work with traditional methods at every stage of the production. Ruby red with hints of violet. Floral with red berry fruits on the nose. Flavors of cherry, blackberry and raspberry. Long finish with round tannins. Roast Lamb or Pork, Neapolitan Style Pizza, Duck and Mushroom based dishes
91pts Wine Enthusiast – 2015 vintage – Editor’s choice

Armida Poizin Zinfandel 2014 California:
A moderate, shiny, ruby red that glistens toward cranberry. The nose is Boysenberry, blackberries, and cranberries all come forward, and are wrapped up in a spice mix. Touches of vanilla come in, as does hints of espresso, oak, and dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is soft with a hint of milk chocolate, sweet oak, and a long vanilla finish. The body is soft, and smooth, like a velvet glove. Amazing given how it pricks with the heat of the high alcohol hidden behind the veneer. Huge flavor of blackberry, cranberry, and vanilla come through. Compliments of spices, raspberries, and dried cherries add complexity.  Barbecued Ribs, Rich Spicy Chili, Eggplant Caponata

Yalumba Y Series Sangiovese Rose, South Australia
A highly aromatic wine showing notes of strawberries and cream, lavender and pomegranate. The palate is vibrant and refreshing with layers of rhubarb, blood orange and cranberry. Sophisticated with a dry finish of zesty acidity.
Enjoy with rock melon wrapped in prosciutto; Thai-style sweet corn fritters or strawberry gazpacho.

Bellingham Citrus Grove Chenin Blanc, South Africa
Vibrant gold with bright green glimmers packed with punchy citrus aromas of orange, tangerine, and a tropical twist of honey melon and pineapple. On the palate is a fresh surge of key lime and Clementine flavors brushed with minerality on the zesty mouth watering finish.
Enjoy it with sushi, Thai chicken wraps, Caesar salads or crumbed calamari.

Harken Chardonnay, California
The nose is flint, minerals, toasted almonds, honeysuckle and a touch of butter. Flavors are toasted bread, honeydew melon, ripe pear and oak. Medium warming finish with some oaky bitterness. Cantaloupe with prosciutto, seared white fish over herbed farro, Burgers on the grill.

Famille Laplace 2014 Domaine Mouréou Red, Madiran, France
70% Tannat 30% Cab Franc One of several properties owned by the Laplace family, this estate has produced a ripe, juicy and generously tannic wine. It has luscious acidity as well as bold black-currant fruit. With some dark tannins and a firm structure, it can age. Drink starting from 2018. Dark earthy nose, robust black cherry, vanilla oak, coffee and rose petals. Tannic structure, sweet front. Complex berry fruit flavours with bitter oak skin tannic finish. Has moderate aging potential, but would pair with venison just fine now. Ribeye, Seared Duck Breast, Cassoulet. 91pts Wine Enthusiast

Jean Loron Gamay Noir, Vin de France
Shows a deep intense purple color with garnet and purple reflections. Intense aromas of ripe Black Berry & blueberry, with licorice spice and mineral notes. The Wine buyers (Andrew and Dale) pick two wines each month for you that we love, and you will too. One white (or rose, or bubbly) and one red. The total value of wines will exceed $40, and the longer you sign up for, the better the deal! Our goal is to show excellent wines in a wide range of styles.   We only choose wines we have tasted and loved.   We don’t base our choices on ratings. (Although we’ll often include them, for your reference,  in the write-up)

Halter Ranch, Grenache Blanc, 2016 Paso Robles, California $24.99
A primary blending grape in the southern part of France, Grenache Blanc is the light skinned mutation of Grenache Noir, the one used to make all the yummy reds. Here it’s 75% blended with 21% Picpoul Blanc, and 4% Viognier. (two of our favorite white grapes as many of you know) This is truly delicious and unique. There’s almost a sweet-tart dust quality to this wine, without being sweet, of course. Orange peel, banana, even custard, all while being clean, crisp, very dry and acidic without being overly citrusy. The finish is long and keeps evolving. Just keeps getting better and better, yum!

This will go with salad in a way many wines can’t, because of its great acidity. Fruit with goat cheese. All manner of seafood, or just drink it by itself, wowzers, it’s yummyliscious!

This wine is S.I.P. (Sustainability In Practice) Certified, which is a certification specifically for the wine industry, and is a step beyond USDA Organic.

Plouzeau, Chinon, Les Cornuelles 2014, Loire France
Chinon is a part of the Loire valley known for great Cabernet Franc
Leather, dark, dark, dark chocolate, almost a hint of spicy Italian sausage with a little chalk, or slate. (if you’ve been to a rock yard or used some in your own yard, you’ll know what I mean) The palate has these flavors but with the addition of some roast tomato or red pepper. The Tannins are pretty chewy (I love chewy tannins! I you don’t stick this one under the stairs for a couple of years) and the acidity is med high. The wine is very balanced and will age well. (I’m planning to purchase a few extra to lay down for a bit) You’re going to love this with a meaty pizza, sausage or game on the grill, creamy rich mushrooms with pasta, or grilled bacon wrapped mushrooms.

This wine is made from estate fruit and is certified organic. Pierre Plouzeau bought the property in 1976, renovated the castle and replanted the vineyards. His son Marc took over the vineyard in 1999 and converted the production to organic.
